A Fickle Companion

Speaking:
Jim Doherty
Sermon Series:
Sundays of Lent

Sermon Description:
The gospel story we consider today follows immediately upon the transfiguration story of last week. It’s “just another healing story” but the feast of insight is on the topic of faith. This text embodies the challenge of being a person of faith. Everything from the father’s confession, “I believe: help my unbelief” to the challenge the disciples have in accomplishing what faith requires, are lessons on the journey of belonging to God.

Altar Guild

The members of the Altar Guild are a dedicated group of men and women who care for the altar area of you worship sapace and the various elements for our worship life.

The congregation does not see most of what is done, since it is "behind the scenes", but the results are visible. The eternal light is lit, the altar flowers are in their stands and baptisms welcome babies, children and adults into the family of God.

When we gather for worship we focus on the beautiful cross and altar that are the center of our worship life together. Working in teams, the Altar Guild performs these activities 52 weeks of the year. Guild members have the privilege and responsibility of preparing the elements for Holy Communion and assisting at the altar during the communion distribution.

If you are interested in joining this team, please contact Eduardo Charbonnier, Minister of Worship and Music at 503.644.9148, ext. 115 or
