More Than Magic

Speaking:
Amber Hager
Sermon Series:
Pentecost Sunday

Sermon Description:
Today is Pentecost, the day in which we celebrate the Holy Spirit miraculously entering our lives, fulfilling the promises of Christ. But do any of us really know what it means for the Spirit to be present in our lives? Is this just some hocus pocus magic of a miracle that transforms us every day? Today, we will explore the important role the Holy Spirit plays in our lives and the call to stop running.

Forty Days Daily Prayer Introduction

Hello Forty Days Daily Prayer Partner!

The questions that we are addressing on Sunday mornings, and through this prayer project are the questions of Existence (Why am I alive?), the question of Significance (Does my life matter?), and the question of Intention (What is my life’s purpose?).

And as you begin each day, I’d also like you to pray this prayer with me: “God, I want to know you and love you more. And if I end this day knowing and loving you more, then the day has been one of significance.”

Each day the first half of the prayer will be words directly from a corresponding chapter from Rick Warren’s book, “The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth am I Here For?” The second half each day will be guided prayers to lead you through the theme. If you can pick up the book at Borders, or Amazon.com, you can explore these issues more deeply.

Each day ends with a Point to Ponder, a Verse to Remember, and a Question to Consider, which are directly from the corresponding chapters in Warren’s book.

This is a Prayer Project Partnership, not a devotional list. Feel free to forward any or all of the prayers to friends or coworkers.

If you have any comments or questions, please email me at ericb@stmatthewlutheran.org and we can keep in touch that way.

Thanks for your partnership in this prayer ministry during Lent. I really do believe that we need to bring everything to the Lord in prayer, and this Lenten series on Forty Days of Purpose will be a significant time in the life of our congregation, and in your personal life.

I really do appreciate each and every one of you in this project!
